Day 1: Arrival in Sandakan – Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre

Arrive at Sandakan Airport, meet and greet by our representative and transfer to Sepilok. Visit the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, established to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned and injured orangutans. Learn about their conservation programme and observe the orangutans from designated viewing areas. If your arrival timing permits, witness the scheduled feeding session at the centre. Continue to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, where you can learn about the conservation of rescued sun bears and observe them in their forest habitat. Later, transfer to your hotel or rainforest lodge near Sepilok. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and relax. Overnight at Hotel/Rainforest Lodge in Sepilok / Sandakan.

Day 2: Sepilok – Kinabatangan River – Evening Wildlife Cruise

After breakfast, check out and proceed towards the Kinabatangan River region, enjoying scenic views of Sabah's countryside and tropical landscapes. Arrive at your jungle lodge in the Sukau / Kinabatangan area. Check in and enjoy lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, proceed for an exciting guided river cruise along the Kinabatangan River. Explore the riverbanks and surrounding rainforest in search of proboscis monkeys, macaques, hornbills, kingfishers, crocodiles and other fascinating wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner. Enjoy the peaceful jungle atmosphere surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest. Overnight stay at Kinabatangan Jungle Lodge.

Day 3: Sunrise River Cruise – Rainforest Experience – Evening Safari

Wake up early for a sunrise wildlife cruise along the Kinabatangan River. The early morning is an excellent time to observe wildlife becoming active along the riverbanks. Look out for proboscis monkeys, colourful hornbills, macaques and other tropical bird species. With some luck, you may also spot wild orangutans or Bornean pygmy elephants near the river. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Later, enjoy a guided nature walk or rainforest experience arranged by the lodge, subject to weather and local conditions. Discover the fascinating flora and fauna of Borneo's tropical rainforest. After lunch and some leisure time, proceed for another afternoon river cruise to explore different sections of the river and observe more wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight stay at Kinabatangan Jungle Lodge.

Day 4: Morning Wildlife Experience – Departure from Sandakan

Wake up early for a final morning wildlife experience, subject to the lodge's operating schedule and weather conditions. Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Proceed by road towards Sandakan Airport, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. Arrive at the airport for your onward flight, carrying wonderful memories of Borneo's orangutans, tropical rainforests and amazing wildlife.

Important Travel Information

The package is based on arrival and departure through Sandakan Airport.
Accommodation at Sepilok and Kinabatangan is subject to availability at the time of booking.
Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Animals live freely in their natural habitat, and sightings depend on weather, season and natural conditions.
Orangutan feeding sessions at Sepilok are subject to the centre's official schedule. Orangutans may not appear at the feeding platform if natural food is available in the forest.
Visitors must follow all conservation centre regulations and maintain a safe distance from wildlife.
Kinabatangan River cruises are subject to weather, river conditions and local safety regulations.
Jungle walks and outdoor activities are subject to weather conditions and lodge arrangements.
Comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing, insect repellent, sun protection and rain protection are recommended.
Binoculars and cameras are recommended for wildlife observation and photography.
The jungle lodge may offer basic accommodation and facilities compared with conventional city hotels.
Meals at the jungle lodge will follow the confirmed accommodation and activity schedule.
Transfers between Sandakan, Sepilok and Kinabatangan will be arranged according to the confirmed itinerary.
